US government did something right!

Daphne got her passport and not a day to soon. We leave tomorrow at 9am and I was getting very nervous that it wasn't going to make it. So now our little family can go international together. Thank you USA for being great and getting it to us so quickly, you made me one happy woman today!!!

Cleaning

We all have been kinda busy so the old house has been a little forgotten. They still had some stuff over there and it needed to be cleaned so they can put it on the market. So we got up early and headed over there with our vacuum and cleaning supplies and dug in. It really went a lot faster than I thought it would, but it still took most of the day. We did have to take a break for my doctors appointment in the middle of the day. Mary packed the rest of the stuff, I cleaned and Johnny watched little Daph.
My doc appointment went really well and I was very happy to find out that I am only 2lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. My belly is very flabby so I need to do some sit-ups, but other than that I feel I am back to my old form. I am determined to find time to do yoga and take a mama and baby stroller workout class while I am in Dominica this semester. Here's to weight loss goals!

Being a new mommy is busy...

...especially if you are trying to help your in-laws move, getting used to having a husband again, going to doctors appointments, getting a passport for your newborn while looking for your missing one, and getting ready to move back to Dominica. This is a little of what we are doing. I have been so bad about my blog the last couple of days because I haven't stopped. The moving is not fun, but Johnny and I did take a day date to Denver. Joey needed to be taken to the airport so Johnny, Daphne and I took him. We did a little shopping for things we need to take back with us. But the exciting part was our date. Johnny has been wanting to go to this really nice, fancy restaurant for awhile. He even found a coupon for a free meal for your birthday. It was a really great place and the food was excellent. Daphne was so good too and just sat there happily looking around the whole time.

Yesterday was nice and we stayed home ALL day. It didn't help cause I still didn't get anything I wanted to done. Daphne was awake the whole day. She has never done that before. I will admit I had to take a break and catch a quick nap so daddy had to fill in for awhile. He is such a good dad. He helps out a lot and I don't know what I'm going to do when we're back in Dominica and I don't have any help. I know it will work out, but I don't know how.

Time out

Johnny, Joey and I worked really hard today to get the storage shed cleaned out. We got a lot done and I think we have all of Johnny and my stuff moved into our room in the house. For a treat after our hard work we went with the family to the park to have a picnic and throw a baseball around. It was Daphne's first time going to a park so I had to make a record of it. In typical Daphne fashion she spent the whole time asleep. I did get out and run and throw the ball a little, but it just showed me how out of shape I am. I was tired after about 5 min. Oh well, all in good time. After the park we came home and watched True Grit. We have been trying to get Johnny's dad to sit down and watch it for awhile now and we finally did. After a full day of sleep Daphne is now wide awake and dad and I are trying to get her to go to bed, wish us luck!

One month old and happy with her family

Daphne is one month old today, I can't believe it! She is loving life and starting to smile a lot more and is hold her head up very well. She is still a good baby, but the last couple days she has been a little cranky. It could be a lot of different things. It could be the meds she is on or the fact we have been traveling and actually going places with her or that she is being handled a lot. Uncle Joey is here and loves to hold her and Daddy is finally home and just loves his little girl. When we got home from the airport I went to get her out and he was like, "NO, put her down I'm taking her in". I knew then that he was smitten.

A very exciting thing happened on her 1 month old day. PeeWee, one of the Cochran's dogs, had puppies. It was her first litter and she had four puppies she did really well and all I could think was that I knew how she felt, and that I was there just a month ago. I think motherhood is amazing, I love every minute of it!

My days without internet

Moving to the new house has been great. I love having my own space and being in my own bed! The Cochran's are trying hard to get things done, but it is going slowly. I wish I could be more help, but there is a little girl that seems to take up ll my time. I help here ant there when I can though. I was pretty upset on Monday when we found out we wouldn't get internet until Thursday, but I survived some how. I missed talking to Johnny so much, but my countdown helped because it was finally in the single digits and my baby's little face helped too!

Yesterday was a very happy day for me. I am still on a high from it. We went to the doctor yesterday because Daphne has thrush, don't worry she is on her meds and it is already clearing up. We found out that she has grown 2 inches and gained 2.1 lbs since she was born. I couldn't believe it. I knew she looked bigger, but I was still shocked. I knew before I went that I wanted to ask to see if we could start weaning her off the O2 instead of waiting 'til her 1 month appointment, but I didn't even have to ask him. He said we would do a very fast wean for her because he knows we want to go back with Johnny. I thought this meant a couple days, nope. This meant a half hour. He lowered the amount left and came back in 10 minutes. He did this until she was off and her O2 levels didn't go down so she was free! Okay not quite yet. We had to do a 4 hour "room air" test. If she passed THEN she would be free from the O2 tank, if she failed she would still have to use it at night. He hasn't officially gotten back with the results, but I was watching her levels the whole time and they only dipped once and it was during tummy time and she was having a little fit. So most likely she is done with the O2!!! I also got the internet back so that means I could talk to Johnny again, always a great source of joy. To top it off I only had 2 more days 'til "daddy comes home"!!! We can not wait! as of right now we only have 29 hours!!!! Yes I know I'm crazy, crazy for Johnny!

Moving day

Today we moved over to the new house. We had a ton of help so it went pretty well. Daphne was of course good all day, but now she is being really needy. She wasn't held all day so now she WANTS to be held. I am so tired I'm going to have to take two days off to recoup. I won't have internet again until Monday so I will write again then.

Bath time, the REAL thing!

Today was bath day, a real bath! No more sponge baths for this little girl. Daphne loves being in the warm water. She does not like getting out of it and into clothes though. She also looks so different when she doesn't have her oxygen thing on her face. I almost don't recognize her without it. I feel so bad for her that she has to wear it. If you look closely you can see the rash that she has from wearing the band-aide on her face. Someday she won't have to have it anymore and I hope that day comes quick.

Trying to get into Dominica shape

I have been taking Daphne on walks in the evening when it gets cooler. I need to get back into shape so when I get to Dominica I am not dying from walking everywhere. It is coming along very slowly. I cannot go very far before I start to hurt and get tired.

It has been really nice though. I get to watch the sun set, Daphne really enjoys being outside and Tanner tags along and it is fun to listen to him talk.

Oh me, oh my....how life flies by!

The lack of posts lately is really lame, but we have been so busy. We are trying really hard to get moved into the new house. I have been painting like a mad woman! (I love to paint so no complaining here.) We are done with the paint so now we just need to get packing the old house up. We move a couple boxes everyday, but Saturday is going to be the big move so we really need to get to work on packing this place up, but none of us seem to have the energy today. We haven't started and its already 4pm. We will probably not get much done today.
I have also been a bum about taking photos of the babe. I promise she is getting cuter (and bigger) every day and I will get some pics up tomorrow. She is still just the best baby. Like I said we have been doing a lot of work at the other house and she lets me do it. She plays on the floor an sleeps so well in the car seat. All I have to do is stop and feed her every three hours. I love her more everyday. She really is the BEST! We are getting really excited for daddy to come home, only 10 more days!!!!!

Dear Little Daphne,

Please stop growing up! Your father is coming home soon and I want him to get to see your sweet newborn face that is fading to fast. You seem so grown up to me and you need to stop. You get bigger everyday and more alert and fun, but hold off just a little longer for mom. Your daddy wants to meet you so badly and what he is doing now is for you. So please just stop growing for him! You won't have to wait to long, just 15 more days then you can do all the growing you want!
Thank you, Mom

New house

Today we went over to the new house so I could help Mary and Bekah paint. We have gotten lot done over there. We only have two more walls to paint and the family is out emptying the storage shed as I type. The thing that is going to take the most time is getting the house packed up. We really haven't even started, just a few things here and there have been packed. It will be so nice to be over in the new house. Daphne and I will have our own bedroom, our stuff won't be in a million different places and I will be sleeping in my own bed.

After I gave Daphne her bath today she ended up with this totally cute curl on the top of her head. I don't know how it happened she had curly hair when she was first born, but it has been straight since her second bath. It is so cute. I had a little curl on the top of my head when I was a baby too, so I'm going to say she got it from me, since everything else about her is ALL Johnny.

Due Date

Thank you due date for being wrong! I really can't imagine having to wait until today to have had her. She is growing up so much already. She is more alert and is always taking in her surroundings. She has a pretty predictable eating schedule and sleeps most of the night. I cannot get enough of her. We spend all day together and it doesn't feel like its enough. I love you sweet pea, thank you for missing your due date!!!

Awake

The last three days or so Daphne has had a lot more awake time. I finally got a video of her doing something other than sleeping so I had to share. Please ignore Scrubs in the background.

Real love

Real love is.......

when you have not gotten to wash your hair in three days,
when you get woken up every ten minutes cause the paci keeps falling out,
when you get pooped on and you don't even care.

I LOVE this little girl!!!
