Today is my birthday!

Today was awesome!
Daphne was such a good girl this morning and took a long nap right after I fed her this morning so I basically got to sleep in 'til 11. Then I got up and got ready and we went and ate lunch with daddy. I went to Katie's house so she could help me with some computer stuff and hang out. We had a great time and I LOVE what we did to my computer, its so nice and organized now. Thank you Katie! I came home and dropped Daphne off with daddy so I could go to my massage. Daddy told me to go get a massage for my bday so I got an hour full body hot stone massage. All I can say is AMAZING! It was so nice and I loved it for my birthday present.
I came home and Daddy had gone and gotten Tulips so I didn't have to cook and it was great as always. So all in all my 24th birthday was a major success!

Pancakes for lunch

Daphne was such a tired girl that we got to sleep in until 8:30 this morning!!! But that also ment we got a late start to our day. We had to rush and get ready so we could go pick up Jemula and Jemuna. We had invited them to come over and learn how to make home made pancakes and passion fruit syrup. I think they had a lot of fun even though Jemula was upset she couldn't get the pancakes perfectly shaped. They got a little mangled in the flipping process, but they tasted so good!. We were all left full full full! Good lunch if I say so myself.

TGIF

We had a busy day yesterday. We woke up and had to get moving because we had a meeting about "matching". Matching is the name of the process of getting accepted for a residency program. One of the spouses put a presentation together with information about it. It was really nice to see what to expect and what we need to do to prepare. After that was over we headed to a Relief Society activity. Making hair clips it was a lot of fun and Daphne has already enjoyed wearing one (see pic above).

After lunch with daddy we headed home and cleaned the house. When daddy came home we decided we wanted to go on a date. We hadn't ever eaten at DeChamps so we headed there. It was beautiful up there and we enjoyed dinner. Daphne liked it so much she fell asleep half way through dinner. Tired baby.

Two months and counting......

Daphne is as precious to me as the day she arrived, and even more so. I love every piece of her! She is so sweet and easy. She loves her daddy. She is a very serious, but happy baby. She is happiest in the morning when she first wakes up and we love laying bed with her and listening to her talk and coo at us. She does not like to have a dirty diaper and loves her bath even when the water is cold. I love her graceful, girly hands. Her little pinkie is always sticking out. She is ticklish and loves to have her feet tickled. She does not like to be alone and loves to be held so that she can watch what is going on. She hates tummy time, but her neck muscles are very strong and she holds her head up very well. She even tries to sit up. She is sleeping really well and only has to eat once during the night. She is not very cuddly, but when she is tired she just melts into your chest. She is growing so fast and is a healthy 13lbs. She is 23 inches tall and has a head circumference of 15 1/2 inches.

Little Daphne, Daddy and I are so happy to have you as part of our life. We love you more than anything in the world and want all that is best for you!

Stop and Go

Our lives the last week have been a mixture of being busy and being lazy. I seem to have some where to be everyday, so when I have a three hour window of nothing I take advantage by kicking my feet up and watching a show or reading a book.

I have tried getting to go to the ocean or pool to cool off, but it has been pretty rainy on the afternoons I don't have anything to do. So no fun in the water, just pain in the rain.

But all in all, life here has been great. We have been getting to know a lot of people and having fun with old and new friends. We have baby sat and gone on a date, worked out and gotten shots. We have a pretty good routine going for Daphne which is nice. She still continues to be a good baby and to take after her daddy.

Our calling

So I have t write this post because Joey is dying to know what we are doing apparently. I also told you I would let you know, I just forgot to. We are in the primary, as usual, teaching the valiant kids (8-11 years old). I have really enjoyed having a little older kids. We have always had super young kids and its nice to have a discussion and not a "talk" while teaching. We see them a lot during the week and I feel like we have built a pretty good relationship with some of them. They got a kick out of last weeks lesson and asked lots of questions. I really think Johnny is liking being it even if he has to sit through singing time.

Meet the kids

The RSO kids meet and greet was last Saturday and of course we had to go:#1 cause we have a kid now, #2 it was at the pool! It was a beautiful day, so beautiful daddy even daddy couldn't resist coming with us!

Birthday Extravaganza!

Friday we celebrated Katie's birthday. I was so thankful for the Tropical Storm that was supposed to come over Dominica was a flop because it cancelled the original plans to go to a restaurant down near Roseau. I wouldn't have been able to go with everyone, selfish I know, but I REALLY didn't want to miss this. As you can see we had a fun time. We sat at Tulips and just hung out eating and drinking and enjoying delicious cupcakes. Good times, good times!!!

Day with Daddy

Johnny didn't have much to do in terms of school today, so he wanted to spend some time with Daphne of course! I just LOVE to watch them together. She is definitely a daddy's girl and he is totally smitten with her. I love that these two faces are what I wake-up to everyday.

I had to snap some shots during skin to skin time cause they were being so cute. I love Johnny as a dad. I knew he would be great, but I am shocked to see how much he loves her and the relationship they have. He was worried about not getting to be with her during her first month and that he wouldn't get to bond with her in that crucial time, but it didn't make any difference. He even took her away from me today. I went to an RSO thing and he said he wanted to take her home with him and he did. They are two peas in a pod!

I missed this

Days like yesterday are why I missed living on the island so much. In the morning I went to the RSO orientation. It was fun to get to know new people and to see people again. After lunch with Johnny I headed home and read a book while Daphne slept. At around 3:30 we headed to the river with some friends. It was so nice and refreshing and I think this new spot will be my favorite spot to visit this semester. The river was deep enough to swim in, there is a swing to jump into the water from and there is a hot spring if you get to cold. Oh and it is about a five minute walk from our new apartment. (Have I mentioned how I love how close we are to everything!)

When I got home I had to rush to get ready for Cookie Night with the girls. So many people showed up. I barely had enough seats for everyone. We sat and talked because we are women. Claire brought some clothes she was good enough to save for me from the last clothing swap that were super cute. We all exchanged magazines and ate cookies and played Catch Phrase. It was a great night. Katie and Claire stayed after everyone else left and we talked and played with Daphne. I really missed all the ladies here. We really become more than friends here.

I am head over heals for my little girl!

And who wouldn't be after seeing this face? I love every moment with her. I'm so thankful I can stay home with her and watch her learn and grow.

Daphne Lois I LOVE YOU!!!

I'm back and loving it!

We told ourselves we were going to relax and do nothing today, but of course that didn't happen. After a very good nights sleep (thank you Daphne) I got up and checked my emails and one was from the branch presidency. It said to come to the CAC. I figured it was so they could get a calling, but to my surprise it was so both Johnny and I that got one. Can't tell you yet, but I promise Ill let you know after tomorrow. We walked around campus and I was shocked at how much it has changed since I was here. We went home and had lunch and got ready to go to the pool. Daphne was really tired so I don't think she enjoyed it as much as we think she will. I will have to experiment with the best time to go to the pool with her. While we were walking home we ran into Shantell and she invited us to a potluck dinner and to watch the BYU football game. We thought it would be fun, but it meant we needed to go shopping to get something to bring. We had a little bit of an adventure there. The cashier added the receipt before us to our total so we had to get that fixed, not a big deal in America, but in Dominica it is. We went home quickly and changed so we could go to the dinner. It was supposed to be at the CAC, but we got there and found out it changed to on of the members house so we had to walk there. On our way we got caught in a down pour. A lady saw us and gave us her umbrella because she didn't want the baby to get wet. It was the sweetest thing. So after a very wet walk we had a wonderful dinner with the branch. I got to meet all the "new to me" people. Johnny and I didn't stay for the whole game because I had invited some girls over to have cookies. They didn't end up coming, but that was okay because Johnny and I spent the evening moving our furniture around the apartment so it is the way we wanted it. Daphne went down at about 7:30 so Johnny and I have spent the last couple of hours relaxing watching football, and getting ready for the semester. One more day and then 4th semester starts!

Travelling Circus

Travelling went very well. Daphne was very good. We had one flight that was 5 1/2 hours and she only cried once because she was hungry. She loved all the things to look at in the airport. she refused to be in any position that she couldn't see all the things going on around her. We stayed the night in Barbados and our sneaking suspicions that they have a personal vendetta against us were once again confirmed. I'm sure its a nice place to visit, but their airport is just stupid. Daphne didn't like it much either and acted out by keeping us up all night. I think she finally fell asleep at about 4:30 and we had to leave the hotel by 6:00. Getting back "home" felt nice and it didn't seem to hot until I was stuck in the apartment all day with no a/c and no fans. We had a couple of visitors as well. Jamie brought some cookies and the baby stuff I am buying from her. Keith and Ann also came over to see the baby and check out the new apartment. Courtny brought over some yummy stir fry for us to have for dinner as well. This is my favorite part of the island, the great sense of community. I have missed it so much. Everyone is always there to help and hang out. I'm so glad I'm back!
