Meet the kids

The RSO kids meet and greet was last Saturday and of course we had to go:#1 cause we have a kid now, #2 it was at the pool! It was a beautiful day, so beautiful daddy even daddy couldn't resist coming with us!

Birthday Extravaganza!

Friday we celebrated Katie's birthday. I was so thankful for the Tropical Storm that was supposed to come over Dominica was a flop because it cancelled the original plans to go to a restaurant down near Roseau. I wouldn't have been able to go with everyone, selfish I know, but I REALLY didn't want to miss this. As you can see we had a fun time. We sat at Tulips and just hung out eating and drinking and enjoying delicious cupcakes. Good times, good times!!!

Day with Daddy

Johnny didn't have much to do in terms of school today, so he wanted to spend some time with Daphne of course! I just LOVE to watch them together. She is definitely a daddy's girl and he is totally smitten with her. I love that these two faces are what I wake-up to everyday.

I had to snap some shots during skin to skin time cause they were being so cute. I love Johnny as a dad. I knew he would be great, but I am shocked to see how much he loves her and the relationship they have. He was worried about not getting to be with her during her first month and that he wouldn't get to bond with her in that crucial time, but it didn't make any difference. He even took her away from me today. I went to an RSO thing and he said he wanted to take her home with him and he did. They are two peas in a pod!

I missed this

Days like yesterday are why I missed living on the island so much. In the morning I went to the RSO orientation. It was fun to get to know new people and to see people again. After lunch with Johnny I headed home and read a book while Daphne slept. At around 3:30 we headed to the river with some friends. It was so nice and refreshing and I think this new spot will be my favorite spot to visit this semester. The river was deep enough to swim in, there is a swing to jump into the water from and there is a hot spring if you get to cold. Oh and it is about a five minute walk from our new apartment. (Have I mentioned how I love how close we are to everything!)

When I got home I had to rush to get ready for Cookie Night with the girls. So many people showed up. I barely had enough seats for everyone. We sat and talked because we are women. Claire brought some clothes she was good enough to save for me from the last clothing swap that were super cute. We all exchanged magazines and ate cookies and played Catch Phrase. It was a great night. Katie and Claire stayed after everyone else left and we talked and played with Daphne. I really missed all the ladies here. We really become more than friends here.

I am head over heals for my little girl!

And who wouldn't be after seeing this face? I love every moment with her. I'm so thankful I can stay home with her and watch her learn and grow.

Daphne Lois I LOVE YOU!!!

I'm back and loving it!

We told ourselves we were going to relax and do nothing today, but of course that didn't happen. After a very good nights sleep (thank you Daphne) I got up and checked my emails and one was from the branch presidency. It said to come to the CAC. I figured it was so they could get a calling, but to my surprise it was so both Johnny and I that got one. Can't tell you yet, but I promise Ill let you know after tomorrow. We walked around campus and I was shocked at how much it has changed since I was here. We went home and had lunch and got ready to go to the pool. Daphne was really tired so I don't think she enjoyed it as much as we think she will. I will have to experiment with the best time to go to the pool with her. While we were walking home we ran into Shantell and she invited us to a potluck dinner and to watch the BYU football game. We thought it would be fun, but it meant we needed to go shopping to get something to bring. We had a little bit of an adventure there. The cashier added the receipt before us to our total so we had to get that fixed, not a big deal in America, but in Dominica it is. We went home quickly and changed so we could go to the dinner. It was supposed to be at the CAC, but we got there and found out it changed to on of the members house so we had to walk there. On our way we got caught in a down pour. A lady saw us and gave us her umbrella because she didn't want the baby to get wet. It was the sweetest thing. So after a very wet walk we had a wonderful dinner with the branch. I got to meet all the "new to me" people. Johnny and I didn't stay for the whole game because I had invited some girls over to have cookies. They didn't end up coming, but that was okay because Johnny and I spent the evening moving our furniture around the apartment so it is the way we wanted it. Daphne went down at about 7:30 so Johnny and I have spent the last couple of hours relaxing watching football, and getting ready for the semester. One more day and then 4th semester starts!

Travelling Circus

Travelling went very well. Daphne was very good. We had one flight that was 5 1/2 hours and she only cried once because she was hungry. She loved all the things to look at in the airport. she refused to be in any position that she couldn't see all the things going on around her. We stayed the night in Barbados and our sneaking suspicions that they have a personal vendetta against us were once again confirmed. I'm sure its a nice place to visit, but their airport is just stupid. Daphne didn't like it much either and acted out by keeping us up all night. I think she finally fell asleep at about 4:30 and we had to leave the hotel by 6:00. Getting back "home" felt nice and it didn't seem to hot until I was stuck in the apartment all day with no a/c and no fans. We had a couple of visitors as well. Jamie brought some cookies and the baby stuff I am buying from her. Keith and Ann also came over to see the baby and check out the new apartment. Courtny brought over some yummy stir fry for us to have for dinner as well. This is my favorite part of the island, the great sense of community. I have missed it so much. Everyone is always there to help and hang out. I'm so glad I'm back!
